Caron Cakes Yarn....I want some more!

With these cooler temperatures all I wanna do is knit.
Back in August, Michaels got this new yarn called Caron Cakes.
It is just so much fun!

It comes in the most lucious colors  with names like: (think Cakes) Red Velvet, Cherry Chip, Macaroon, Funfetti, Key Lime, Rainbow Sprinkles and Faerie Cake.
Who doesn't love cake?

Once I discovered it, I searched every Michael's I could find. Even
had my friend, Helen searching. We looked at both stores in our area,
Destin, and St. Louis, we lucked up and found a few skeins but not in
the, I guess, most popular colors.  See!! Almost empty shelves. The
stores are supposed  to get more in November :( but that doesn't
leave much  time for Christmas gift knitting projects.

Helen made this scarf with the color Macaroon. I love it!

The pattern for this blue one I got from my new friend, Cindy, over in Montgomery. It is a little lacy and better for our warmer
 southern winter temperatures.

I'm working on another scarf in the color
 Cookies n' Cream.
    It is delightful!

We are currently working on Shawls and making good progress. These are  easy patterns even a beginner could do. These will make great Christmas gifts, if we can just get more yarn in time to get them made.

For you knitters, I am sorry for this enabling post and a frustrating one at that. Hopefully the yarn will come in earlier than expected and  we can get our hands on some! Let me know if you find some and show me your projects!
UPDATE !!!  Good news to report!
(The new yarn finally came in and HELEN and I replenished our stashes! )

First Signs of Fall

I put my fall wreath out today. The air was cooler and when I got up the temperature was 62 degrees. The lowest temp in several months. I'm ready for fall. How about you?

My fall mantle decor came out.

My wreath and my pumpkin
 are all ready!

and of course, Football began!

Have you noticed the beautiful sunsets?
And at the grocery store I found this
diehard Ole Miss fan!
So let's all enjoy our Fall because winter
will be here before we know it!

I have also begun pulling out some winter knit projects. Thinking ahead to Christmas gifts. So keep an eye out for some inspiration!
Thanks for visiting!

If I'm sittin', I'm knittin'.

As a child, my mother taught me to knit. I'm sure many of you have this memory as well. I knitted a few items as an adult but had not tried it in years.

In September 2014 my friend, Holly taught our scrapbooking group how to knit a dishcloth. It's the very easy Granny's favorite dishcloth. Easy because it is only the knit stitch. To date, I have made tons of them and given many away. They really are great dishcloths. Anyway, this got me restarted in knitting, which I have really enjoyed. It is a great hobby because it is portable, unlike scrapbooking. Whenever we go for a ride or on a Photoshoot (Bob's hobby) I always take along a project. It's also nice to have some gifts to have on hand when the need arises.
Download and print the pattern HERE

The fun thing about knitting these is that they are quick, and what knitters call "mindless." Once you've knitted a few there's no need to look at the pattern and you don't have to keep up with rows or stitches. Also, the yarn comes in so many beautiful colors and it is very inexpensive.

On this grey and white one I took leftover yarn and knitted
two rows of each color. On the others the yarns change colors and it's
just fun to see how it turns out.

Here is a variation of the pattern that made a candycorn
dishcloth perfect for October! If anyone wants the pattern for this
 one, let me know

I hope I have inspired you to try your hand at knitting. Remember Google is your friend. When I was working on something new and came to something I didn't understand, I just typed it in to Google just as it was printed, ex. p2togtbl. What the heck does that mean? A clear explantion or video will usually come up!  It really is fun and easy! So give it a try. It really is a stress reducing and fun hobby.
Let me know if you give it a try!

After all....it is Football Season!

I found this cute little children's table and chair set at my favorite spot, Goodwill.

I contacted my friend, Lynn, who has 19, yes, nineteen grandchildren!
I thought she might have a use for it. She did!

She gave me pretty much free reign in painting it.
I knew they were also Bama fans so I fixed it right up.

Here is the before picture. I suspect it had been handmade by loving grandparents.
Noah's arc was the decor. It is very sturdy and well made and
will definitely survive 19 grands!

As you can tell, I had fun with this project. I used my favorite paint, Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Emperor's silk and Pure White. I used chalkboard
 paint for the top.

Again, I am glad to be back. Thanks for visiting. I love comments.
You should find a place to post them below.

It's me Again!

I miss blogging. I just abandoned this place for more than two years. But now it's time to resume my posts. I consider myself a "jack of all trades." I like to try new things and continue to learn new skills. Here I will share my adventures, successful or unsuccessful. Currently I knit, paint furniture and do all sorts of crafty things with my Silhouette Cameo. Please follow me on my crafty journey. You are welcome to share my posts with your friends and comment or ask questions for more information. Thanks for visiting.

This ring dish is decorated with gold glitter vinyl I cut with my Cameo. I am learning all sorts of things I can decorate with my Cameo.

For this first new post I am going to send links to all by friends. If you will sign up on the Follow by email link then you will receive posts as they are posted. If you do not wish to follow then do nothing. I will remove you from my list.
