Still ready for Spring!

It was cold outside when we made these pictures but I am thankful we had a couple of warm days. I am so ready for spring. 

I painted these two nitestands for a lady this past weekend. 

They were just your typical nitestands. 

As I was wiping them down I noticed these stains on top of one of them. It smelled like motor oil.  I gave it a light sanding and tried giving it a coat of Shellac to keep it from bleeding through the paint. 

As you can see below, when I put on the first coat of Annie Sloan Chalk paint in Old Ochre the oil came right through. I then gave it a coat of Kilz.

They got two solid coats of paint, a layer of clear wax, some light sanding and then some dark wax strategically placed. Also added a little gold gilding wax!

I just love them now and the lady was very pleased. 

Looked really good against her green walls. 

Oh, I forgot to tell you. I told her about the oil on top and she said it was Old English scratch cover. Some of it still came throught after my last coat but not too bad. So the lesson here is not to use that stuff!!

I started another  project. Years ago I painted this dresser. It was white French provencial. I added the ball feel I found at Lowe's. I did love it but was just getting tired of it. The photo is after I removed the handles and filled the holes. I had drilled new holes for new handles. I just happened to find the original handles and am putting those back on.

Feels like Spring!

What a beauful spring-like day it was. We were able to paint

 outside and it was wonderful!

This little table was so cute.

 I couldn't resist adding some yellow springy flowers.

I painted it with a mix of Graphite and Old white.

 The top is a little lighter mix than the legs.

Here it is before.

 It was a solid pine folding table I found at Goodwill for $4.

 See how cute it is folded up. I plan to keep it in my car for when we go on photo shoots. Never know when you might need a spot to sit something.

Helen's small cabinet before. Found this at Goodwill too!

And Judy's board after. Painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in  Primer Red with a touch of Gold.

And here's my table all folded up. Just love it!

Helen's cabinet came out so cute. We painted the outside in Chateau Grey with Old White on the doors and Paloma inside and on the doors. Finished with clear and a touch of dark wax. 

It will be the perfect spot for her teas!

So glad we can begin painting outside again. We are supposed to have some stormy weather this afternoon, tho. 

We also did some scrapping last night but my pictures did not come out very well. Watch for more painting projects soon!

I could have scrapped all night........

Pam and Helen came to scrap last night. We were doing some great pages. I love using my new Silhouette Cameo. It is doing some wonderful cuts and really making our pages fun.

 Love the turn down corners with the double sided paper. Really cute idea.

Helen was already scrappin' our retreat. Tea became a relaxing treat. We have all gotten hooked on having some nice calming teas since we got home. Especially with these cold temps.

Great title I cut. Most beach premade items have sunshine, flip flops or something beachy. I figured a snowflake would be fun since it was winter and very cold!

More Retreat pages!

My photos of these last pages were not very clear,

On the last night of your retreat, Rhonda, Megan's mom came for dinner. Of course we had to show her one of our favorite techniques....heat embossing!

It is always fun to see what happens when the embossing powder melts!

 Dianne of Capadia Designs explains embossing and gives a few tips here on her website. 

 We all enjoyed visiting with Rhonda and we apologize for doing some serious enabling. She had to make a trip to Michael's the very next day!

Well, it was time to go home. The car a little fuller this time!

I have to admit...the following pages were painful! Gay has two sons, one graduated from Alabama the other Auburn. Need I say more.....

Pam, Helen and Evelyn did some great pages.

At the close of the day it was always nice to see a lovely sunset.
